The 41st edition of Reno’s Closet Ball was held at the Ramada Reno in downtown to see Margaret Snatcher (yes she is from Britain) claim the title of Closet Ball Queen 2019. The event held annually by the Silver Dollar Court raises money for local charities and is known in the community as the funest “gay” event of the year.
This year six male contestants came out as the sex they were born and in just one hour transformed into the opposite sex by their sponsor. Savannah Jewel, who co-emceed the evening, told the audience that this year none of the contestants had ever done drag before.
The Convention Center at the Ramada Reno had very few empty seats in the event raising money to support Seniors in Service, Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation and The Nathan Leipold Scholarship, which is now handled by the University of Nevada. Reno.
The reigning Emperor Casey Heide was in drag for his one time during the reign. He was painted by the producer of Closet Ball, Empress XL Hope Jewel Halston.
