DO you care about guaranteeing Marriage Equality in Nevada?

URGENT – Community’s Help is needed to spread the word.

Assembly Joint Resolution (AJR) 2* needs as much support as it can get. In the past there has been overwhelming support for the passage of the bill which would change the state’s constitution to recognize all marriages regardless of gender. It would remove the currently non enforceable language that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. In the present political climate it is hard to say what will happen. By changing the language, it would guarantee all marriages in Nevada would be recognized even if federal law changes.

On March 12 in Carson City, the Assembly Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections held a work session on the bill, as changing the constitution is a five year process when done through the legislature. During this work session only 14 people spoke in favor of its passage, while 8 spoke against.

Currently, the opinions registered online the NOs out number the Yes’. At the time of this writing NO had 77 opinions registered and Yes has 59. That YES number needs to far outnumber the Nos. You can register a vote for or against the bill and write your opinion as to why the bill should be passed by visiting the Nevada Legislature website. The legislators read the online comments in favor and against the bill. Help! is immediately needed to show there is overwhelming support for the bills passage the second time around.

You need to locate AJR2* that asterisk is very important as it means it is from last session. (there is a AJR2 this session). Fill out the information requested (you should be a Nevada resident). You can also pull up the information up in the bill information box by typing AJR2* (REMEMBER that * is important)and follow the instructions on the page.
