Transgender bathroom bill fails in Assembly

Thanks to five Republican Assemblypersons, who took a stand against discrimination  for transgender children in Nevada schools, AB375 was defeated  22-20 on Tuesday night the last day to get bills out of the house of origin for the session.

Assemblyman Ira Hansen (R-Sparks) said the issue likely now will become a ballot initiative  following the Assembly vote.  The bill was hotly contested as discriminatory, a violation of Title IX (federal law) during hearings in committee and on the Assembly floor.
